RK Joinery and construction recently completed a full renovation of a property based in Elgol on the Isle of Skye. The building boasts great views from a stunning area of the Isle of Skye however it was in major need of renovation. The property had recently been purchased by Ian and Clare Winskill who were wishing to convert the building in to extra rooms for their already thriving business Coruisk House Bed and Breakfast and restaurant immediately next door. You can see images of the premises before work commenced illustrating the significant renovation work required to the roof and interior of the building.
As you can see from the images above the existing building had to be stripped right back including old insulation before the main renovation work could take place. The RK team carefully removed all the existing building material which was not suitable to be included in the new renovation. The electrics and plumbing also had to be re-done so these aspects of the existing building were carefully analysed by project manager Robert Macqueen before making a decision on how best to proceed. You can see further examples of the the property before renovation below:
In total the renovation took 6 months in which time a new roof was fitted to the building, new plumbing and electrics installed and bespoke bathroom and hall designs were installed. The existing render on the building was discovered to be boss. The property was also re roughcasted and painted externally.
Business owner Clare Winskill chose the colour scheme to be used for the interior. Light greys and vibrant whites set a welcoming complimentary colour scheme for the rooms. The property staircase was also fully repaired and painted to follow this style. You can see images of the other rooms in the finished renovation of the property below:
The project was completed on time and in budget and has completely transformed the building in to extra rooms for their luxury bed and breakfast business. Speaking of the project business owner Clare Winskill added "This was quite a project. An old house in a terrible state of repair to be converted into luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in a remote part of Skye. Robert helped us with suggestions as to how we could achieve the remodelling of the interior of the house to create two new luxury suites. All the team at RK Joinery worked tirelessly to help us achieve our dream and we are delighted with the result. The Steading is now a chic oasis in Elgol. The first suite opened on 10 May this year with the second suite to be opened in March next year. Bookings for the first Steading Suite have been very strong for this season and we are already receiving reservations for both suites for next year. A big thank you to Robert and his team".
RK Joinery managing director Robert Macqueen added "It has been a real pleasure working with Ian and Clare to help them to realise their vision of expanding their luxury bed and breakfast located in a very scenic part of the Isle of Skye. We would like to wish them good luck for the future".
RK Joinery are now scheduled to return to Coruisk House for further renovation work to the existing property this winter.
